For four decades now, Ismail Kadare (1936) has been the most well known Albanian writer, both at home and abroad. His intriguing work consists of prose, poetry and essays, and has been crowned with numerous awards, including the Man Booker International Prize (2005) and the Prince of Asturias Prize (2009). He has also been repeatedly tipped for the Nobel Prize. A conversation about 45 years of authorship in a changing Europe, in which the Balkans form the restless heart.

    • The French Canadian writer Myriam Beaudoin sent us her new novel 33, chemin de la Baleine (Editions Leméac).  Her residency with us in winter 2008 was spent writing a great part of it. Or put in her own words: "The last hundred pages have been written in Vollezele. These pages are the most beautiful and truest in the book."
