Karrie Fransman (1981) grew up in Edinburgh and now lives in London. She published
autobiographical comic strips in The Guardian and The Times. Her debut album is The House That Groaned, published by Random House's Square Peg.

Fransman likes to experiment with forms and she'll be making a story in 3D for Brussels in Shorts. Karrie Fransman stayed in Brussels from 12 to 26 April 2012.

    • On Thursday 15 March the great Belgian writer Louis Paul Boon (Chapel Road...) would have turned a hundred. The centenary starts with a literary birthday party in his native city of Aalst, and will come to a close on Sunday 7 October in Brussels, when Passa Porta will be holding The Great Boon Marathon at the Royal Flemish Theatre (KVS).     • In October 2010, Czech writer Tomáš Zmeškal was writer in residence in Brussels. Recently, he has been awarded the European Union Prize for Literature for his debut novel "Love Letter in Cuneiform Script" (Milostný Dopis Klínovým Písmem) which describes the post-war world of 1950s Czechoslovakia from a postmodern, fragmented perspective.
